BAC Water

Bacteriostatic Water (BAC Water) is sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as an antimicrobial preservative. It is the standard diluent for reconstituting lyophilised peptide powders in research settings. The benzyl alcohol content inhibits bacterial growth, allowing the reconstituted solution to remain stable for multiple withdrawals over weeks when refrigerated — unlike standard sterile water for injection, which is single-use only due to lack of preservative. For reconstitution of peptides, BAC water provides a stable, isotonic-compatible vehicle that minimises peptide degradation while maintaining sterility. Proper aseptic technique is essential during all reconstitution procedures. Storage: Maintain sealed vials at room temperature (15–30°C) away from light. Reconstituted peptide solutions should be refrigerated at 2–8°C.
